Five Vietnamese accommodations have been recognised by Forbes as among the world's best, including two in Ho Chi Minh City, and one each in Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Hanoi.

The US travel guide Forbes Travel Guide honoured the world's leading hotels at its Star Award ceremony at the end of February. This annual award, established in 1958, recognises hotels, restaurants, spas, and cruises in 81 countries. Vietnam has two resorts that received 5-star ratings: Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai (Quang Nam) and Sofitel Legend Metropole (Hanoi). Three other properties were rated 4-star: InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort (Da Nang), Park Hyatt Saigon, and The Reverie Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Forbes praised Vietnam's accommodations as "perfectly beautiful" and "offering guests rich experiences."

To be awarded, candidates must meet hundreds of criteria set by the organisers. For the hotel category, criteria include: layout designed to enhance guests' sleep quality; healthy food and beverage options. Staff attitude and customer experience are also mandatory conditions. The total rating score for an accommodation facility comprises 70% based on service and 30% on the quality and condition of facilities. A 5-star rating is the highest, followed by 4 stars. There are no lower rankings.

Compared to Southeast Asia, Vietnam ranks 5th out of 11 countries in terms of awards received. Thailand ranks first with 21 hotels honoured. Indonesia is second with 19 hotels, followed by Singapore, the Philippines (11), and Malaysia (6). In Northeast Asia, China has 199 award-winning hotels, South Korea has 6, and Japan has 37.

Experts from 81 countries secretly booked and stayed for two nights as regular guests. Based on their experiences, they evaluated and voted for these establishments. Award-winning hotels represent only 20% of all evaluated accommodations. Source: Phuong Anh - VnExpress Newspaper
