US magazine Forbes has just published its list of the 23 most beautiful destinations in the world for 2023, based on the selections of leading travel experts. Ninh Binh, Vietnam, is honoured to be included on the list. The destination was chosen by Catarina Mello, a San Francisco-based, world-renowned travel content creator, photographer, entrepreneur, and award-winning online educator. Since leaving her office and trading her digital marketing career at Google for the life of a travel content creator, Mello has grown her following to over 800,000 across social media platforms.

Ninh Binh faces fierce competition from long-established destinations in the region, especially Ha Long Bay, and is often referred to as one of Asia's most beautiful hidden gems. "However, it is becoming increasingly popular on social media, so Ninh Binh won't remain a hidden gem for long. Visit Ninh Binh while it still offers visitors the most authentic experiences of Northern Vietnam." Fun fact: Ninh Binh was a filming location for the 2016 movie Kong: Skull Island. What Mello loves about the area is its proximity, just a two-hour drive from the bustling capital of Hanoi. Ninh Binh is an incredibly attractive destination with its giant limestone mountains, lush green valleys, miles of rice fields, and winding rivers. "It's so beautiful you'll fall in love instantly," Mello wrote.

Visitors can spend the day cycling through rice paddies, climbing limestone mountains for scenic views, visiting pagodas, cruising along the beautiful countryside, and traversing caves in a hand-rowed boat. For this reason, the area is nicknamed "Ha Long Bay on land". Don't forget to try Ninh Binh's specialities: mountain goat meat, with the most famous dishes being goat blood pudding, five-spice grilled goat, and steamed goat with ginger.

Forbes' list of best destinations for 2023 in Asia also includes: Japan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Rajasthan (India). The list also features essential destinations in Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Africa, and the Middle East, with renowned names such as: the Mallorca archipelago, Spain; the Noto Valley in Sicily, Italy; Nice, France; the Namib Desert, Namibia; and Tasmania, Australia.
